CAMHS Parent Participation – Morning session

This session will be looking at three areas:
Communication with CAMHS
Appointments in CAMHS
Parent carer experiences
(for example how you felt you were treated, how much input you were able to have in your child’s care etc)
These three areas have been identified as some of the biggest issues faced by parents working with CAMHS for their children’s mental health or neurodivergent needs. We welcome feedback of your lived experience in these specific areas, as we continue to work with the CAMHS Participation Service to improve outcomes for children, young people and their parent carers. The CAMHS Participation team understand that SEND families face many difficulties and are keen to continue to work with the WSPCF to promote better working partnerships between families and professionals. The session will be conducted by splitting the available time into discussing the 3 area topics.
If you would like to share examples of your experiences in these 3 areas please come prepared with your experiences, and if you are able to, some ideas of what you think could work better. This session will be hosted by Hannah Torr from the WSPCF and Larissa Caines from CAMHS Participation Team.
Larissa will be able to state what has changed in CAMHS recently based on feedback offered from those with lived experience (some excellent work is happening), and opportunities for parent carers to be involved in working with CAMHS to change/improve services.
