This page offers information, resources, and support to support you to navigate your child’s mental health while also looking after your own.
Supporting a child with mental health challenges can feel heavy – but you don’t have to carry it alone.
This short video is a reminder that help is out there, for your child and for you. Take a moment to watch and know: you’re not alone in this.
Our free workshops supported parent carers in navigating their child or young person’s mental health, including those with anxiety and/or SEND. Unlike standard first aid, these sessions focused on mental health first aid, giving parents the confidence to respond to crises while waiting for professional help.
Each session offered a safe and supportive space to: Recognise the signs of a mental health crisis in children and young people, including self-harm, suicidal thoughts, and sudden changes linked to conditions such as anxiety or depression.
Learn practical strategies to offer calm, non-judgemental support and to signpost towards professional help.
Gain essential crisis response skills, such as what to do if a child has self-harmed, overdosed, or been poisoned (including less obvious types of poisoning), alongside paediatric first aid and basic life support.
Reflect on the emotional impact of caring, and explore calming techniques and different types of rest for your own wellbeing.
Understand how to communicate your role as a parent carer to schools, health professionals and other key services. These workshops provided parent carers with not only practical tools for emergencies, but also emotional insights and a powerful reminder: supporting your child also means caring for yourself.
Although we currently have no mental health sessions planned, your interest can make a real difference. By joining the waiting list, you’ll help us secure funding for future sessions, and you’ll be the first to hear as soon as new dates are confirmed.
