WSPCF is an independent charity for the parent carers of children and young people aged 0-25 with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).

We support parent carers by providing information, support, and training that equips them in their lifelong caring role and empowers them to participate in shaping services for their children and young people.

HAVE YOUR
SAY

Your opinion counts – The ‘have your say’ area of our website helps us represent your views to help shape local services.

What do we do?

We believe that every single one of us can make a difference, and that is why we invite you to join our community. We will help you to use your experiences in parenting and caring for a child with SEND to participate in shaping the services that we all benefit from. Your input will:

  • improve confidence that commissioned services meet the needs of children and young people with SEND
  • bring a different perspective and challenge others’ thinking
  • ensure that children and young people with SEND are valued and engaged.
  • We call this ‘co-production’.

How can we help?

Parenting and/or caring for a child with SEND is a hugely rewarding experience, but it also has its challenges. Have you ever felt…

  • you’re on top of this parenting lark, determined that your child will have the same outlook at his ‘neuro-typical’ peers one minute, only to be floored by the hugeness of the challenge the next?
  • lonely and isolated because you don’t know any other people who have a child with SEND?
  • burnt out by the worry and anxiety, and the fight to get the services in place that your child needs (and deserves)?

If so, you’re not alone. What’s more, we can help you overcome these challenges. We are here to help you succeed and enjoy your special needs journey.
