Presented by Renaissance Legal, this session includes topics around the Court of Protection, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Mental Capacity.
About this Event
Philip Warford from Renaissance Legal will talk about what the future holds when your child reaches 18. The fundamental principle is that no one has the right to make decisions on behalf of a person when they become an adult. The reality of this is not so clear cut.
If a person lacks the ability to make a decision then their mental capacity is questioned, Philip will explain the principles around mental capacity and what families and carers need to consider.
Philip will then go onto explain about Powers of Attorney. The appointment of someone to make decisions on behalf of a person with a learning disability, what and how they can be used. As well as what the Court of Protection is, what they do, timescales and charges.
The presentation will be for 45 minutes followed by a fifteen minute question and answer session.
This session this will be delivered through Zoom – full details will be emailed to you once you have obtained a ticket.
